The structure and original avionics of this solid-propellent rocket were built in 2019, but the build was followed by a year of failed separation tests that earned it the moniker “Strugglebus”. Then COVID hit just as we nailed down separation tests, grounding the poor rocket for another year and a half. Finally, after a redesign of the avionics and motor mounting, Strugglebus had a perfect first flight at the FAR 51025 competition in June 2022!
